HTML LinkChecker is made to be easy-to-use. Most menu-commands has keybord-shortcuts (see the menus), and there are also other operations that can be done from the keyboard. These are
Command-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
In the first window, these shortcuts will add “Open special”-files to the list. In the second window, command-1 is the same as “Edit Document”, command-2 as clicking “Print” and command-3 as clicking “Save”.
Return and Enter
If the list is empty in the first window, typing return or enter will display the “Open”-dialog. If there are one or more files in the list, it will instead start the search-process. In the second window, selecting a line and typing return or enter will display the “Full information”-dialog. Finally, as in all Macintosh-programs, return or enter will automatically select the framed button in opened dialogs.
Command-A
In the list of files that should be searched, you can use command-A to select all lines (mostly useful if you want to remove all files from the list).
Command-period
Command-period (command-.) has the same function as in most Macintosh-programs, which is to stop the current process. In dialogs, the “Cancel”-button will be selected if there is one.
Command-F and command-G
In the “Editor”-window, these shortcuts has the same function as clicking the magnifier-icon with (”Find next”) or without (“Find”) the option-key down.
In dialogs
Except for command-period and return/enter that are frequently used in dialogs, you can in most of HTML LinkChecker's dialogs select the other buttons from the keyboard as well. Simply type command and the first character in the buttons name.
The arrow keys, home, end, page up and page down
Those keys works in both the first and second list to select lines in the lists.
The option- and shift-keys
The option key is magic. Use it when you think it may have a use, and it may have one. Sometimes there is use for the shift-key too, for example you can add an entire folder by option-click “Add...” or add many files at the same time with a shift-click.
When selecting “Check version”, you can hold both these keys down to check the currently free amount of RAM, as described in the “Menus”-chapter.
